Button in advanced editing screen?

    Is there a way to insert a button into the advanced editing screen other than the absolute positioning method used by the Hello-Dolly-plugin, or do I have to alter the wp-admin/edit-form-advanced.php (then it would be a hack, not a real plugin)?

    I am using javascript and the DOM to insert buttons and the like into the editing interface. It is ugly, but it works pretty well so far.
