Custom Field Template: Post to keep 'global' custom fields

Just a thought that might be quite nice, is if CFT had a section by default that you could put custom fields into which affect the entire site. For example, when you put custom fields in the header or footer, or want to reference the same thing in multiple different pages.
It’s just being picky on my part, but it would be nice to be able to have something separate in the admin sidebar, rather than trying to find it in the pages amongst all the content, or remembering to manually take it out of sitemaps.
Something that wasn’t deletable by clients, thus messing the entire site up, really.
