Hi, I am having the exact same issue with my NextGen gallery install. Any help on solving this issue would be really appreciated.
Thank You
Linda
Hi, I’ve just started using this plugin myself and was wondering about that too at first, but you simply need to use the link ‘manage gallery’ from the main Gallery navigation and that’s where you can edit your thumbnails etc
Thanks for the reply, but the problem is that the thumbnails are not being generated at all so there is nothing to edit. I did try the “edit thumbnail” link but it just produces a screen with lots of error messages.
I have been using NextGen on this install for quite some time and this is the first time that this has happened.
Thanks
Linda
Same problem here, have been using it earlier without a problem. Running wordpress on a iis 6.0 machine.
Yep, same problem here too. Using version 1.8.3 and WP 3.2.1. When adding a gallery, thumbnails won’t be created, and I cannot create new from the “bulk actions” either.
Thanks
Micke
Hey all, I had the same problem just now but boosting the memory limit fixed my issue.
I added: define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’64M’);`
to wp-config.php
Then I deleted my gallery and recreated it, uploaded new images and it looks good:

Kelly, thanks for the tip. Increasing the memory solved the thumbnail issue for me.
I’ve tried adding define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’64M’); to wp-config.php but it doesn’t fix the problem for me personally.
I really need to find a way to fix that, it’s terrible, it’s like the plugin is half way built.
Please help.
Kelly, thanks for the tip.
Unfortunately, that didn’t do it for me. Still not getting thumbnails, even though I only upload one picture at a time. The thumbnails dialog progress bar goes to “100%” and disappears, but the dialog window never goes away.
Any other suggestions?

Ah, solved it!
For me, it was all about the size of the original images.
I experimented a bit with size:
Original pic: 4288px x 2848px at 300ppi at 4,66Mb in jpg format
Downsizing it to
4000px x 2657px at 300ppi at 1,55Mb in jpg format
and NextGEN gallery created a thumbnail without a problem.
I guess that this can be memory related as well, so I recommend you to experiment with resolution and size (in Mb) to something that suits you.
— Edit —
At the size
4288px x 2848px at 300ppi
but downsized to approx 1,7 Mb, the plugin couldn’t manage to create a thumbnail. Perhaps mr. Rabe could give an answer to what affects the creation of thumbnails, resloution or footprint?
— End edit —
— second Edit —
Well, now I tried a pic with max resolution 4000px, but size was 3,4 Mb, and the plug-in created the thumbnail. So it seems that resolution matters more than size.
— End edit
