[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] How can I display thumbs and big image in a div

I am reopening an excellent topic (link below) in the hopes that there has been further progress.

The solutions offered are elegant, and the resulting site which was created using Arafat and lok1728 suggestions can be seen at this link:

I have two questions:

1) The site functions well in all browsers tested, except that in ie8 the caption does not display properly. has this been resolved?

2)I would prefer not to undertake the required coding if there now exists a plugin that will achieve this result. I suspect that there is not, given the changes that must be made to the page and header templates, but thought I would ask anyway.
