• Is there a way I can password protect one category or maybe one part of my blog?

I want to have anyone read most of it but flag certain posts for members only.

    THx

not possible or no one knows?

    Please read #2: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/39501

And I don’t know of a way to do this. Perhaps a plugin could do it, but I don’t know of a way.

You can however password protect individual posts.

I, too, need to password protect categories. But even that would be settling. I find that this is another area where wordpress lacks over, phpbb, for example. It makes sense that we should be able to limit access to categories (threads) by user level.

And speaking of categories being used to thread entries, also missing is next_category_link(n) and previous_category_link(n). Sure would make things easier.

I don’t mean to complain. WordPress is an impressive collection of php routines. I just wonder why these features were not written into the very first version. Seems obvious to me.

I have a nice custom plugin that was designed to password protect categories for WP 1.5. I haven’t yet updated it for WP2, but I’ll get on that and post it for download soon!
