    Hi,
Everything was working ok, till today. My webpage suddenly moved far right of the screen, leaving a blank space to the left. Please take a look here: http://www.planstoprosperity.com.

This happened when I updated my theme’s framework (Mainstream from woo themes). I copied my original theme files to the WP-content/themes folder by ftp and replaced the previous files, resulting in my theme downgrading back to the previous version. But it didn’t help.

Then I tried to deactivate the plugins. Didn’t help either.

Then I switched to the twenty ten 1.2 theme and it displayed correctly. I reactivated the plugins, it still displayed correctly.
However when I switched back to the “Mainstream” theme again, the problem came back.

I searched the forums, but couldn’t see any similar problems like mine. Please help me, as I am new to wordpress and don’t know much about CSS and things like that.

    Thanks in advance.

PS. I forgot to mention that some logos are also missing from my footer area.

  • If it’s a premium theme from Woo, you’ll have to check with them. However, chances are, you did a custom set up on the theme without creating a child theme.

Always remember to create a child theme so you can make ANY changes you want and not worry that your site will revert upon theme update.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Jorge for your prompt reply. No, it’s not a premium theme. I am using the free mainstream theme from them.

Ok, I was not aware of the child theme concept, so I’ll definitely keep that in mind when upgrading in future.

But, what do I do now? How can I solve this? Please guide.

My suggestion is the long way around but what I would do is re-install your theme as is, then create a child theme using Mainstream as the template as per the guide in the link on my previous post.

I know it’s a bit of work to go back and do it again, but you’ll find that is probably the least frustrating methods of approach.

I finally resolved the issue. There was this option in the theme to add some CSS codes if I want to, which I did. Now that was what causing the problem. I deleted the CSS that I had added up and the issue was resolved.
