removing list element from categories

I’m trying to get my weblog to say something like this:
posted by [author] at [time] in [category]
but I can’t work out how to stop the category bit from displaying as a list element, as I want the text to be all on one line. I’ve seen this done on other wordpress powered blogs, so I was just wondering what I should do to achieve this.
