• Hi,

wonder if you can help? I have created a new template PHP file. I copied the default into a new folder and made some CSS amends. However, this then prevents you being able to access wordpress and the site fails to load in any browsers. The only output is 3 characters (which I believe is somnething to do with charset=utf-8 settings?

All I did was change the word ‘bold’ top normal and I used textpad to do it and ftp it back up to the new template folder in the plugin area.

I hope all this makes sense? Works fine when I replace my slightly amended template file with the default again.

If you need any further info to assist, do let me know.

    Regards

    David

  • Hi,

Almost the same story at my side. After changing and saving the template file (changed a ‘1’ to a ‘0’), the complete frontpage slide show styling crashed and none of the frontpage-slideshow style elements show up anymore in the html.

I tried to upload the original template file again by using ftp, but that didn’t solve ths issue. Do you have any other suggestions to fix this?

    Regards,
    Guido

HI Just wanted to add – this is for the Frontpage Slideshow plugin as it seems to have stripped this part out!

Many thanks if anyone can advise.

I never has that kind of problem and don’t really understand what’s happend…

Most of people don’t have this problem… and seems to do exactly the same as you…

Anyway here are some advises :
    * make sure you are using an UTF-8 aware editor
    * make sure you are using an Unix-end-of-line-aware editor
    * make sure you transfers files by using “Bynary mode” via FTP, not “Ascii”
