category doesn't expand, only opens the category page w/ suggestion

    sry if this is a dup post / error. But when i click on the category, it only opens that category as a page. The plugin’s previous version would expand that category. I have since reverted back to old plugin.

    suggestion for improvement:
    clicking the symbol (+/-) (arrow or whatever symbol user uses) would expand the category list.
    clicking the category title would open that category page.

    just a thought. any other ideas or suggestions?

    Other than that…great plugin! been using it even since i started WP.

    If you look at the widget options, there is a setting that allows you to choose between “clicking on category title links to archive” or “expands to show sub-categories and/or posts”. With either option, clicking on the arrow (or whatever you chose) expands the category.

    Hi robfelty,
    I was actually having a similar issue, and I really hope you can help out! I redirected the category to a page (to provide a little introduction about the subcategories on that page) but it only shows the page on the right and doesn’t drop down to show the subcategories. Also, I was wondering if there is any way we can create a external link on a page for a subcategory and have the parent categories drop down to show that subcategory as selected when clicked.

    thx for the input rob. Thats exactly what i did / discovered. i played around with some of the settings to achieve my desired result.
    what kinda threw me off was that my settings did not change after the update, but those settings weren’t functioning as the same they were prior to the update.

    were you able to get it working as expected gaga?
    i typically dont have or use a ‘category page’. I think i have one or two cats that has an intro / preview page and i actually just call it out in a different menu button.

    if i remember correctly, you can always right-click on the cat or sub-cat and click ‘open link in new window / tab’
    of course this isn’t exactly the best user-friendly setup, but just a thought.
