    Hello,

WordPress is installed on my new blog. I want to use a theme that is not part of my WordPress package.

I downloaded the new theme to my PC and unzipped it. The saved file is ready to upload to my WordPress themes folder (wp-content/themes).

When I upload the unzipped theme, the theme is an executable file, not a folder. What am I doing to keep the file from uploading properly so that it is an active theme?

    Thank you,

    Shirley

  • Where did you get that theme which is one (1) file?
Either your unzipping software doesn’t work… or what you get is not a theme.

    Hello,

Thanks so much for the reply. Something happened overnight to make the theme work properly, and all is fine.

If only everything would fix itself while you sleep.

    In appreciation,

    Shirley

So funny that you mentioned that the files don’t unzip into a folder. Samething happened to be but I erased it before midnight…..lol

I think I may have found the answer to folder problem.

When you download the theme you want in to your WP content and then themes and you are using FTP program which many of us do. If the folder is on your desktop and you click on it and drag it into your FTP it will mess up and just give you one file in it. Delete the one file and use the FTP as it should be used and send it over to the themes folder. It will all upload properly.

Do not drag it in to the folder straight off the desktop will work
