Recently I set up a website on tigertech.net and set up a new user called Fabauthor as part of tiger’s one click installation. I put on a test post and all looked fine. Now, I can’t get into fabauthor because wordpress.com says it doesn’t exist, apparently because I registered here on wordpress.org. I was able to log on to wordpress.org, (here?) but there is no dashboard?

Tiger won’t let me “erase” and start over without doing something with the wp.config.php, which wasn’t on my computer in the first place. I downloaded the software, but I don’t want to get tangled up running a database, etc.

There’s nothing but a test post on the website so it’s no problem to erase it and start over if I could find out how to do that.

How can I get to my blog?

  • I think you first need to decide if you have a self-hosted WordPress install or a free site hosted on wordpress.com

??? I’m not self hosting. I thought I was getting a website with a wordpress.com blog dropped in.

These forums are for self-hosted WordPress sites only. Please try asking your question on http://en.forums.wordpress.com/

thanks – tried that, they sent me here.

Then you need to go back to your hosts and determine exactly what it is that you’re “getting” – then post in the right forum.

    Hi There,

If you are getting free hosting, why don’t you just register a new username and start another blog. The only thing about free things is that sometimes there are little support and you have to search the forums for answers like on here. A lot of us here are pretty experienced and can often help newbies out.

    Hope it helps,

    Cheers!

    Fabauthor, I’m with tigertech.net hosting.

I think there’s a misunderstanding here. Our one-click installer installs a “self-hosted” blog that’s unrelated to wordpress.com or wordpress.org. To login to that blog, you’d normally just visit your own blog page and look for the link to login there.

If this doesn’t help, please contact our friendly support folks by opening a ticket, sending us an e-mail or calling our toll-free support; our contact page has the details.

    Thanks!

Tiger – I am now more confused than ever. I will contact Tiger, and thanks.

Incredibly I stumbled on the answer two minutes after I sent a ticket to Tiger. I needed to sign on at XXX.com/wp-admin/

I would say duh, but it was painfully not obvious. Thanks to everyone who responded.
