Introducing the WP-GenericFooter Plugin

    I have finally written my first WordPress plugin. It’s called WP-GenericFooter because it adds a generic footer to all posts made on your blog. It’s inspired by the footers you see at the end of columns in newspapers and magazines. You know, the little italicized paragraph at the end of the article.

    Hi, I’m curious whether this footer text shows up in your RSS feeds? Seems like it could be useful for a copyright line.

    Dgold there is a plugin that adds copyright to your feeds.

    Good question. I hadn’t thought of that. The answer is that it depends. The footer text is being added as part of the post content so it will show up in the RSS feed unless you have your feed set to show summaries instead of full text. Unless you’re post is one short sentence the summary setting will cut off the footer.

    To see what your feed setting is set to look in the Syndication Feeds section of Options->Reading in your blog admin.
