I have the widget set to only get the custom field from the permalink it is on….but it is pulling every single different field with that name….meaning it is pulling form other pages/posts rather than just that page/post. Makes the plugin unusable right now. Please fix.

Just to be clear: are you using the Get User Custom Field Values (as this support question is tagged) or the Get Custom Field Values plugin?

Also, were you using the previous version of the plugin, or is this the first time?

Finally, you risk not-so-friendly responses when you make demands on people who have provided their time and effort for free. Just be kind and present the issue you’ve encountered.

I mean the “Get Custom Field Values”…my bad there. Tag updated correctly.

Next, re-read my comment. Nothing in it is a demand or is ‘not-so-friendly’. I even said please.

If you can’t take constructive criticism, polite as I gave, or otherwise…then get out of the game. Its called professionalism.

I was polite and I clearly stated the issue. The new update does not work. Instead of pulling and displaying the custom field for that specific page or post, it is displaying them all from all posts or pages. This in fact makes the plugin unusable until the bug is fixed.

Yes I had to revert to the previous version as my pages stopped loading just before the post content was rendered. This is wordpress 3.1

Broken for me too — pages stopped loading just before the post content was rendered.

@patung and @mpmchugh : Are you two using the widget or a template tag in a template file? If the former, could you indicate what widget options you set. If the latter, could you post the code you were using.

I use the shortcode straight into the post editor, for example in the post – [custom_field field="overall_rc" this_post="1" limit="1" none="Not Yet Rated" between=", " /]

the pages stopped loading just after the post title, last thing that appeared in the source was ‘div class=entry’, nothing after that, so I mean the pages stopped loading before that shortcode comes into things which confused me a bit, first thing in the actual post content is h3 align=center blah blah blah /h3 so nothing to do with your plugin but still even that bit won’t load.

I’m also using a shortcode in custom posts types, like this:
    [custom_field field=”media” this_post=”1″/]

I’ve fixed the problem and updated Get Custom Field Values to v3.3.1. Let me know if anyone encounters any further problems. Thanks!
