• Working through a WP book, I followed instructions to create a simple theme. Activated this new theme. Got ‘parse error’ and could not get back to dashboard. Locked out. I reloaded WAMP and WP. That worked of course.
So – How do you recover from such a locked out situation without reloading everything?
All I could think of was to replace my new index.php with the TwentyEleven index.php, and hope I got back to dashboard to re-activate working theme . . . .
Doesn’t this situation occur with theme developers all the time? What do they do?

  • You have to use your FTP and make the necessary file restores or delete the newly added theme.

Switch to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes.

Thank you both. Will try these next time!
(I only got a new password when I wiped everything out and started over this time, which hopefully I can now avoid.)
