Support » Installing WordPress » How strict is the PHP version requirement to update to 3.2?

  • I thought I’d better ask before upgrading to 3.2 versions – how strict are the PHP minimum requirements for this new version? My Web host has the versions below. I’m good to go on all but PHP, which is close to 5.2.4, but not quite. My host does not express plans to updaste PHP on virtual servers soon. Should I wait? Will it break my installation?

Thank you for your advice! – Michael

    Apache version 2.2.15
    PHP version 5.2.13
    MySQL version 5.0.92-community

I may have partly answered my own question. The PHP Web site shows 5.2.17 as the previous stable version before 5.3. I might be close enough. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know.

Meanwhile, I’ll try on one of my less critical Web sites.

    Wish me luck.

    Howdy,

Yes indeed, you answered yourself 🙂 Your host’s current version is “more current” than the minimum 🙂

Have a look at the release dates here:

This buggered me up too the first time around 🙂

    Cheers!

5.2.13 is newer than 5.2.4 because 13 is bigger than 4.
