• Hi all,

I ran into a little glitch when updating to 3.2.1 just now. I looked around and don’t see a previous post on this — it there is, let me know and I’ll delete this one.

    Problem:

I couldn’t break out of a loop during the database-update part of the upgrade. I’d get an endless series of “Update WordPress Database” followed by “Continue” on the following Update Complete page. Couldn’t break out of it.

    Solution:

This appears to be a problem with the version of Firefox I’m running (Mac, version 5.0.1).

The solution *within* Firefox is the clear the browser cache (Tools/Clear Recent History/Cache) right after clicking the “Update WordPress Database” button and *before* clicking the “Continue” button. WordPress then correctly presents a login screen and all is good.

This problem doesn’t happen when I used Safari (version 5.0.5). The database update cycle was normal.

My 2 cents — hope it helps somebody who is running into the same thing. The nice thing is, it’s not too serious. 🙂
