Support » Themes and Templates » Default Kubrick Theme Fixed..Including 1px footer/header shift…

  • For all those having this problem with the Kubrick “Default” theme in WordPress, with that 1px footer or header shift. I have the downloadable files to fix it all.

    In this download, you will have the following issues fixed.

    1) The search button will be up beside the search input field in both IE and FF.

    2) The 1px footer/header issue will be fixed for in both IE and FF.

    3) You will have everything in the sidebar, listed on all the pages, instead of just the index page.

    4) You will also have the same imagery as I do on here now. =)

    Demo Site here:
    http://vindictivebastard.net/kubrickfixed/

    Download the RAR Archive here:
    http://www.vindictivebastard.net/FixedFilesForKubrick.rar

    I hope this helps.. I originally had this at my test101 blog, but I’m currently using it for the Andreas08 theme, revamped by Kate.. which is being used on Andreas’s site.

    Please let me know how it works for you, if you try it. Thanks..

    Even added two other images, within the end of the post for “Posted in” and “no comment” part of it..

    Works as far as I know, for versions.. 1.5.2, 2.0 and 2.0.1… =)

    Just posting an update on this. I finally got MicroShnitz’s IE7 Beta installed and what not, and viewed the KubrickFixed test site in it, and it’s displaying screwy for both the header and footer images.

    From what I could see it’s probably about a 2px shift for both. What I’m going to do is, keep the above downloadable RAR Archive for the IE6 version. And just make up another one that would work in IE7 and FF at the same time.

    Then I’ll post the download link for those files later on. =) I’m just too tired to do that right now, so please be patient.. =)

    I already found the Fixes for it to work in both IE7 Beta and FF now. It wasn’t too hard at all. =) To make it quick for now, as a temporary option until I make a “special” RAR archive for IE7 Beta’s fixed files of Kubrick Default.

    Download this like normal:
    http://www.vindictivebastard.net/FixedFilesForKubrick.rar

    Unzip It, then OPEN the header.php file.

    Find this code here:
    #footer { /margin-left: 2px; }

    Replace with:
    #footer { /margin-left: 0px; }

    In the same header.php file.

    Find this code here:
    #header { margin: 0 !important; margin: 0 0 0 2px; padding: 1px; height: 198px; width: 758px; }

    Replace with this:
    #header { margin: 0 !important; margin: 0 0 0 0px; padding: 1px; height: 198px; width: 758px; }

    That should take care of the problem in IE7 Beta. Then of course upload like normal over the existing default files and images.

    On a side note though: You have to remember this fixes the problem for IE7, but then those that still are using IE6 might see that 2px shift then anyways… What else is new right? Welcome to the wonderful world of Microshit!

    I use your theme in my blog http://www.stabaccati.centallo.com and the index have always the same problem. I think that’s no the theme the problem, ’cause with other themes the sidebar is always after the posts 🙁

    (@spencerp)

    karimblog, if you have the default theme ALREADY in the themes folder here, which you do: wp-content/themes/default
    http://www.stabaccati.centallo.com/wp-content/themes/

    You should have ONLY uploaded those fixed files over them then, NOT the whole KubrickFixed folder (as by itself I mean).. It’s not a new theme, it’s just fixed files for the default 1.5 theme, as being replacement files.. =P

    As for the other problem..hmm.. I’m not really sure. Maybe something isn’t CHMOD right or something… =/ So re-select the default theme once, then ONLY upload the new images and files over the existing ones in the wp-content/themes/default folder

    spencerp

    P.S. I thought I did specify this before, but maybe I didn’t.. so really it’s my fault. Sorry about that.. =(

    Done. I fixed the default theme with your, is very nice, but the problem of sidebar persist. Is very strange, I reload all the files of wordpress, but my doubt is that something is wrong in the database. I use dreamhost..

    Note that if you load a post page, everything is good, but the comment area is very big. 😐

    PS: thanks for the help

    now we’ll have to worry how things look in IE6, IE7 and FF. Or even Opera. Sux big time. 🙁

    karimblog, there is a missing </div> tag some where, I “think”. Let me see once..cause this wasn’t giving me a problem when I uploaded those fixed files before…I’ll try it once myself and get back to you..

    Download this one once and only upload the sidebar.php file and the footer.php file..I “think” that’s all you would have to upload..

    I dunno, but this is all TOO weird! I just went to validate your site/blog and it passed! So it might have something to do with your server or something:

    Apache/1.3.33 (Unix) DAV/1.0.3 mod_fastcgi/2.4.2 mod_gzip/1.3.26.1a PHP/4.4.2 mod_ssl/2.8.22 OpenSSL/0.9.7e

    I’m not sure though.. maybe moshu might know though.. =D

    What ya mean NOW lol! It’s always been like that, except for IE7 Beta coming into the works..and that’s supposed to be better though lol.

    My blog is hosted by dreamhost and all the other blogws works very good. I guess that the problem isn’t in the themes, but in the data stored on the server. Could be?

    Thread Starter spencerp

    (@spencerp)

    My guess “might be” yes, but it’s just too weird that on other pages, it’s fine, just isn’t on the index page.. I’m hoping moshu or someone else with more knowledge on this, replies lol

    karimblog, you might want to start a new thread about this, so it Gets FULL attention. =P I’m not sure if moshu or anyone with more knowledge of this, had seen about this weird issue or not, but I’m hoping he does lol..

    Issue is: The theme looks good on other pages as far as I know, just the index page is borked, and his site passes validation.. =/

    Hello,

    I was referred to this page to fix my “1 px” problem on the footer.

    I’ve downloaded and unRAR’d the folder. But I’m not sure which files to overwrite.

    You see, I’ve modded my sidebar and header and while it was quite fun I’d really prefer not to have to go through and add all those code snippets (for quote randomizer, etc.)

    So do I really need to overwrite those files to fix this footer alignment problem? And if not, which files should I put on my server?

    Thank you.

    EDIT: Or perhaps I could save my current “header” and “sidebar”, drop the new Kubrick onto my server, then cut+paste my old “sidebar” and “header” in the console?

    Can I get a link to your site please? Or is it NSFW. You can then email me the link at: psgif180 [at] hotmail [dot] com

    Well, the header, footer and background image was changed. Same goes for the sidebar.php and header.php files. If you want, just hit me up on MSN Mess or Yahoo Mess. The MSN mess name to use is above…and the Yahoo Mess one is: twistedsociety666

    I think it would be best to do it that way, because if I can get a link to see the problem/ issue, I’ll be able to show and tell better what to fix. Ya know what I mean lol.

    You could send your files via the messenger to me, and I can just fix them to be the same but yet fixed, and send em back. Same goes for the header image and what not.

    spencerp

    I really didn’t do anything fancy, just set up a few plug’s that required some cut+pasting of codes. I just don’t want to have to go back in there and do it all over again.

    I guess I can just save my old ones in notepad or something and fix up the new ones once I have it all installed (paste code back into the new files).

    My URL is my user name + .com

    Thanks again.
