• I just installed the new Google +1 button on my blog and I’m trying to figure out a way for it to attach the posts’ featured image (thumbnail) rather than the default header image. Also the title always appears twice when I ‘plus’ an article. Does Google +1 need special meta markers (like with Facebook Open Graph)?

  • Google +1 hasn’t worked out all the kinks yet, its nothing to do with WordPress. It may be the theme though, but I couldn’t tell you what’s wrong with it until I get a closer look. It seems to work fine on my blog.

I’m using some conditionnal clauses in the meta tags, might be why.

That’s probably the case. Again, like I said, what Google +1 or Facebook pick up is not completely related to WordPress. Try removing those conditional clauses, it’s probably confusing the code +1 is trying to pick up from your website.

At the moment Google+ is using the <title>, META description and an image (possibly at random). What I do know is that you can’t manipulate it and they aren’t using Open Graph either
