Google Error: Sitemap is HTML

    I installed this plugin over a month ago, submitted my sitemap to google and never looked it after that. Today I checked webmaster tools and found this error in post-sitemap.xml

    Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead.

    I think people will loose their search engine visibility if they continue to use this plugin.

    Same Problem for me.
    The sitmap isn’t generated and if you visit the page a 404 -page is shown

    I solved it. The Problem is W3Cache
    I ve Added sitemap(_index|[0-9]+)?.xml(.gz)? on BrowserCache-Panel 404 Exception List and on PageCache-Panel on Non-trailing slash pages that solved the Problem

    lioman I don’t have any caching plugin installed.

    I also just noticed this problem, no idea how long it has been failing. I have tried disabling my cache completely and it didn’t correct the issue. Keeps coming up as 404.
