Well… after seeking for a solution for hours yesterday I just found the solution myself.

After clicking on the demo website, I found the solution.

What they’s done is link to
    http://www.proudthemes.com/demo/academica/category/blog/

So what you need to do, is ad a category called “blog” or whatever you like, and link to that category in the menu setting. So

    Add a category
Add the category in the menu

Thanks, I was having the same problem. That is a strange way to do it.

As long as the theme does not have some sort of specialized front page template, and what you are looking for is to have a static front page and then a separate page that shows your posts, then follow the instructions in this codex document.

Short form: Create and publish your static front page and create and publish a page to be used as the blog (add no content to the blog page). Then go to settings > reading and select the static front page you created as your front page and the blog page as your posts page and save.

Thank you lucasdegen – I have been looking for this solution for my client. This is great theme but has some odd quirks and this is definitely one of them.

    You are welcome.

It seems they’ve changed there domain.

You can now check out the theme at
