Did you install WP in the root, a subdomain or a subfolder?
Btw, the entire website is down with a “the server does not have a DNS entry”.
Hello Roy and thank you for your prompt reply. If I’m honest I’m not sure – I just used the quick install on C-Panel. I’m not sure what:
Btw, the entire website is down with a “the server does not have a DNS entry”
means. Sorry but I’m a bit of a newbie when it comes to technical stuff. My actual website seems to be working fine?
I’ve just checked and WordPress has been installed into the public.html folder – Is that OK?

You probably (partly) overwrote the existing website, which is not good…
That DNS thing should have nothing to do with WP, but it mains that your domainname (valuevisionglasses.co.uk) is no longer pointed to the correct server. That should be a question for your host. The only thing I can think off, is that since you now have a mix of the old html (I guess) and the new PHP files of WP, the server no longer knows what to load.
In any case, you need to get rid of either the html files (the old website) or all WP files (and see if nothing misses after that) since both in one folder is not going to work. Then when you still want to install WP, you should install it in a subfolder (or subdomain) as in valuevisionglasses.co.uk/blog or valuevisionglasses.co.uk/wordpress.
Roy thanks very much for this. I’ll try a clean install. I appreciate your help in this matter.

What kind of website was the existing one? Html? Do you have all files on your computer? In that case, you can compare what the public_html folder looks like with your computer and delete what you don’t need (inclusing the wp-admin, wp-content and wp-includes folders). Hopefully the original website is back up then, so then you can try to install WP in another folder. Should still get the DNS error after restoring the old website, you need to talk to your host again.
The existing site is “written” with Serif WebPlus X 5. The thing is – the site works fine and the WordPress blog works fine – it’s just that I can’t link the WordPress blog from my website.

That’s funny, the last time I looked, neither worked.
In any case, the link is http://valuevisionglasses.co.uk/blog/, not http://www.valuevisionglasses.co.uk/blog.html but even with the latter link, I get redirected correctly!
Roy, thank you for your help. I’m baffled but you are right. It’s now working – so I should be grateful.

You could (should) change the link of the “blog” button on the main site to the url without .html. It now looks like some htaccess redirect or something. This is of course fine, until something happens to the redirect. Better to have a link to the correct url if you ask me.
OK – I’ll sort that one out. Thanks once again for your help.
