Upgrade through WP issue

    Hi Guys, I can’t seem to find an exact match to my problem here. Basically, when logged into WP, I can never do any plugin upgrades ‘automatically’. This happens for Main WP upgrades, Plugins and Themes. The only way I can upgrade is to load them via FTP. That makes me nervous that I will lose settings, and custom CSS.

    Is it a setting on my machine? in WP?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Sorry, should have said. I get past the point were I put in the FTP details, then in just hangs. I refresh and then get the white screen in the backend and the front end.

    That sounds like an issue with your FTP credentials. Have you spoken to your hosts about this? That said, uploading plugins via FTP – although more tedious – is no more dangerous that upgrading via the Dashboard.
