  • The install update process said it could not update because it couldn’t find CAPTCHA and that it was deactivating the plug-in. When I went to the Plug-in page “Deactivate” was still showing so I clicked it. Then the whole thing disappeared so I can’t DELETE it.

Meanwhile, my whole site is grinding so something is not right.

There are no UNINSTALL instructions that I can find on your “About” page. How do I get rid of CAPTCHA so I can reinstall it.

    Thanks.

  • FTP to this folder on your server:
    “/wp-content/plugins”
    and delete the “si-captcha-for-wordpress” folder
Now you can log into admin and reinstall.

The auto install/update functions are part of the core WordPress files. If your install/update fails there is nothing wrong with the plugin. Your server may be having trouble with resources such as low available memory or too high of a load demand. Or something random simply failed during the install/update. At this point, a manual un-install / install might be the solution.

Sometimes the WordPress auto install or auto update function fails and the plugin is left in a state of non-functionality. In that case you will need to un-install and re-install it. First try a manual un-install, then do the auto install. If the auto install is not working then try a manual install.
