• I have been trying to edit the sidebar and add my profile and picture to it but have not been able to. Any suggestions as to how to accomplish such a change?

I want our sidebar to be as the one here:

    http://embassyofgrace.net/cgi/blog.html

I had WP before in another serveer and was able to edit the sidebar to my liking, but I cannot write it now; I already changed permissions and attempted to do it in my File Manager through my server with no success. Can you help? How can I “uncommnent” the comment about the author? As this one:

<!– Author information is disabled per default. Uncomment and fill in your details if you want to use it.

A little something about you, the author. Nothing lengthy, just an overview.

If you have the permission to change permissions, you would be able to set the permissions of your theme files to 664, and the be able to edit your sidebar.php from withing the WordPress dashboard: Presentation/Theme Editor.

For further assistance: What theme do you use?

I GO TO MY DASH BOARD AND CANT WRITE IN MY SIDEBAR PHP PAGE WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET THIS WORKIGN SO I CAN ADD SOME LINKS THERE AND WHAT NOT

First, pry off your capslock key.

Secondly, as the post previous said, have your file permissions changed so that you can edit your theme’s files.

how do i do that they all say read and write so whats the problem heres whats happening i just downloaded and opened in dreamweaver can you help

also how do i take off that default meta catergory can anyone help

I’m sure someone will get by and help you.
You have to be patient though, take it easy and try to explain your problems.
This is not company service desk, and you didn’t by anything.
We are all volunteers here trying to help out on our spare time. So if you sreeem you will scare people off.

Thought i’d better explain this for you.

Now, if you are calm and easy now, can you tell us how it went with the “cant write in my sidebar” thing.
    Did you resolve that problem?

If not, did you check that your web server can write to your theme’s directory?
Most of us use the web based Dashboard to change things, which means that the web server must have write permission, i.e. at least 664 ( octal figures ). You can normally set this using an FTP program.

If, on the other hand you are logged in via Dreamweaver, I don’t understand what you can do with the Dashboard.
( Though I might be wrong here, as I don’t use DW.
I have only used it to produce a few static web pages )

    Come on, ask away.
