[Theme: Twenty Ten] Theme resets itself….As an F.Y.I to all who are using this….

I fell in love with this theme… loaded it up… made lots of tweaks to the css… probably the wrong file … but… to other files in the editor too… and every time I updated to a new version of WP the theme reset itself… all the code in the editor went back to the original… and all my tweaks were gone and the widget column was totally lost too…
after a year of having to do this each time WP had an update… I just spent hours finding and tweaking a new theme… and it’s just fine with this latest WP update like all the other themes…
why would this theme reset with each update…is there a fix or???
