Could someone support Textile 2.2?

I am a former Movable Type user who loves to write posts in Textile 2 format.

The best solution I’ve found for using Textile 2 with WordPress is a plugin called “Text Control.”

I recently found a bug with the plugin.

However this plugin hasn’t been updated since 2009, and one of the authors tells me it is unlikely to be updated again.

This is unfortunate, especially since last fall a new version of Textile was released, Textile 2.2. Talk on the Textpattern blog indicates development of Textile is planned to spin off into its own project. So the future looks bright for Textile.

Is there anyone out there who could put together a nice Textile 2 plugin and keep it updated? I would love to keep using it on WordPress as both WordPress and Textile continue to release updates.
