Is there any way to get the New Post button back on the dashboard or has it been dropped? If so that sucks.

It’s been dropped. There are “Add New” links everywhere now, next to the screen title, but more importantly, WordPress’s direction is to utilize the Admin Bar for these extra links.

What @ipstenu said. Expect the admin bar and admin header to become more unified over the next couple of releases.

Truthfully I kind of miss the favorites menu, too, but in the end decreasing screen clutter — even if it means adapting to a link being a few inches away — is something we want to work on. I would bet that someone will write a plugin to restore the button before long. Maybe you? 🙂

I am allowing all members to post (specialised) blog posts.
Is there any way I can get an “Add New” button at the top of my blog page. Intuitively this is where most of my members would expect to find it – rather than in the “Admin” bar (which implies being an admin to post.

It’s in the Admin Bar, which will become pretty much required for 3.3. However you’re not asking an alpha/beta question so if you need more help with this, please make a new topic, all your own, in another section of the forum 🙂
