Can't Upload Images To Subsites

    I just created my first subsite. The master site works great and I can change the header, upload images to widgets, etc. just fine. Although I can put images in posts, I am unable to upload a custom header image or put one in a widget. The error message I get is:

    Add media files from your computer

    Unable to create directory /folder/folder…/blogs.dir/2/files/2011/06. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    I have checked with my ISP and there is nothing amiss at that end. What is required to get this to work?

    you have to change permissions on the blogs.dir uploads folders so WordPress can create more folders underneath and save uploads to them.

    Did you create the blogs.dir folder when you enabled the network?

    I had difficulties changing the permissions on the blogs.dir folder but got it done with the help of a tech at the ISP. Thanks for the help. That took care of the issue.

    I’m having the same problem with not being able to upload any media to my multisites.

    blogs.dir and all the other directories are writable. I’ve set everything to 755.

    I don’t understand what’s going on. I have spent countless hours on forms and the information out there isn’t helpful.

    Should I just contact my host provider or is this something I can fix on my own?

    Aaron – generally when a topic is marked RESOLVED, you should make your own 🙂

    Make your permissions 777. If that fails, make your own topic 🙂

    It can also depend on the owner of that folder as well.

    @ipstenu – I’ve tried setting my permissions to 777 as well, and tried it again and I’m still unable to upload photos for the multisites.

    …thanks for the advice. I’ll probably make my own topic.
