  • Yeah that’s great, but I think aftabn was looking for some actual help. I think they can do a google search.

    @paradiselost79

    I think they can do a google search.

    you’ll be surprised how many cannot.

    what @songdogtech is politely pointing out is, that the documentation of wordpress.org does not actually contain such a tutorial; and that the wide web is the best resource to find a choice of tutorials to work with.

    if you have a tutorial that you have worked with and that you can recommend, then please post a link to it here.

    @paradiselost79: PSD to WP theme development is completely outside the WP docs http://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page , is too extensive to cover in the forums here and is something one needs work through via a tutorial(s). Hence the many tutorials available by a web search.

    I am also new and was looking for the same thing. I created a PSD and downloaded Divine Elemente to Photoshop. Which takes your PSD to WordPress. I had problems with it, many people have not. There was something wrong with the template, when I went to add my text info it would never align properly no mater what I did.I tried to download a plugin and I could not get the plugin to work either. When I contacted the person who created the plugin they said something was wrong with the template. When I switched it to the default theme, everything worked properly.

    So I found a free WordPress template that was similar to my layout and modified the images with my template. http://www.freewordpressthemes4u.com/

    Not sure if that is what you are looking for, but it worked for me.

    @alchymyth that is what I meant, people could help with links to tutorials. I knew it was a lot to cover, not something that could just be explained here. Sorry, not trying to be rude but I have just seen that response on the first 5 questions on here.

    Public Service Announcement

    Only download Themes from reputable sources.

    As a general rule, any domain name that violates the WordPress trademark policy is not a reputable source. The site you linked falls into this category. I’ll wager that the Theme you downloaded has spammy footer links, encrypted footer code, or a mal-applied license (if not worse).

    That’s the general response, because such questions are generally outside the scope of these support forums.

    You could, if you’d like, create a page (or a user page) on the Codex, in which you list any such tutorials you find. And that way, you could then provide a link to that resource whenever the question arises.

    I have had issues with the codex only because they seem a little, I don’t know, boring 🙂

    And I have not found a great tutorial so far, only programs that claim they can do it perfectly that cost big $$. I prefer to get into it and try and do it myself, but that seems extremely difficult to do as a side project. So any starter info is appreciated 🙂

    Again: PSD+wordpress+theme+tutorial http://www.google.com/search?q=PSD+wordpress+theme+tutorial
