The upcomming version doesn’t longer provide the boxes at article and pages to define the featured image. Furthermore this is not related to just deactivated boxes by screen options, they are not even there contained.
Furthermore child blogs loose additonal the ability to define the format box, this is only possible at main blog!

Yes it does. I’m using it right now on 3.2 RC 1 without a single problem in MultiSite.

    Turn off all yoru plugins.

(Also moving this to the alpha/beta forum)

And make sure you have image uploads enabled in the network settings. If they aren’t then the featured images boxes are disabled completely.

This isn’t even new in 3.2. It’s already in 3.1.

I can reproduce the “post formats” selection box not showing in both 3.1 and 3.2 RC 2. In fact I wasn’t aware of such feature, as it only shows when posting on the root site (which I very seldom do on my multisite).

I tried disabling all plugins with no effect.

post formats are theme dependant. is it in the code of the themes used o the sub sites?

Wait, so post formats are different from post types, the defaults of which are always available? Oh so confusing.

    Yeah, yeah it is :/

Post Formats are formatted versions of normal posts. Like Tumblr. They’re all shown in your normal loop.

Custom Post Types are like the difference between posts and pages, but you can make up your own kinds.

Since the problems here were based on multisite settings and theme support, not core bugs, closing this thread.
