• We are in the process of upgrading our WordPress server and while getting close for our test server to go live we have ran into a snag. We have the MU portion of WordPress setup and can access the site network admin section and create new sites. After the site is created and you click visit it will either error out or take me to a Yahoo search screen. We are running this on a MS Server 08R2 using IIS. One of the sites we have created is christest1.wordpresstest.depauw.edu.

WordPresstest.depauw.edu works fine any thought or ideas would be most appreciated.

    Thank You
    Chris

  • Please don’t bump your posts.

Neither of the links you posted work, so it’s hard to tell what is going on. What exactly is the error message you see? Is it a 404?

    yes, 404

404 on sub blogs but not the main blog indicates a problem with rewrites. If you were using Apache, you’d need to enable mod_rewrite and make sure the configuration allows for .htaccess files.

I’m not familiar with Windows servers, but I bet you need to enable and configure the equivalent of Apache’s mod_rewrite.

Thank You, I’ll take a look and see about mod_rewrite in the windows environment.

    If you’re using IIS 7 (I THINK) you can use mod_rewrite. If you’re on IIS 6, it’s a web.config PITA.

Search the forums too for MultiSite on Windows. (Protip: Use google search – it’s better than the forums)
