Try deleting all the files/folders EXCEPT wp-config.php and wp-content folder, and re-upload the 2.01 files from a fresh download

Is there any plan to reorganise the file structure of Wordpress in the future? Even minor upgrades seem more than a little intimidating to perform when ensuring that all the customised files are preserved and the app files are overwritten.

I'd love to see things reorganised into something like two distinct folders - one for user content (plugins, language files, images, etc) and one for back-end application files that don't get edited by the user. Then every upgrade would be a case of replacing the app folder.

Yesterday (after upgrading to v.2.0.2.) I wrote:

Well.. Today I finally solved my problem by deleting ALL wp-files on my server and then re-installed Wordpress again from scratch. (By doing that, I was forced to delete the sql data base, but fortunatly I was able to back it up first.)

That did the trick: I now again have my rich editor! Great!!

I am getting a weird error. It's not preventing me from posting, but it happens every time after I post, or after I make an edit to a post:

WordPress database error: [Lost connection to MySQL server during query]
    INSERT INTO wp_postmeta (post_id,meta_key,meta_value) VALUES ('241','_pingme','1')

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/content/s/a/v/sav2880/html/blog/wp-includes/wp-db.php:102) in /home/content/s/a/v/sav2880/html/blog/wp-admin/post.php on line 122

I followed the directions exactly and in fact re-followed the upgrade directions to attempt to fix this error in 2.0.1 making sure that all the right files got overwritten.

    Any ideas?

I'm getting pretty good at this, 29 minutes and I'm back (plugins & stylesheet), not exactly a 5 minute install/upgrade and minus the data but it's free and I'm too stupid to figure it out so I go with what I got lol. Peace.

My problem was that the actual posts weren't showing. My main pages don't show the whole post, so the permalinks were screwed.
Though I have no posts as stickies via Adhesive, disabling it fixed my issue.

    Upgrade Adhesive to 3.1.1.

    I need some help please.

I upgraded from 2.0 to 2.0.1 and all my recent posts prior to the upgrade are no longer on the main page. Instead posts from a year ago display on the main page. Any new posts created after the upgrade do display on the main page as they should in correct order. Any idea on how I get my recent posts prior to the upgrade to display on the main page in correct order without having to repost them? Thanks for any assistance.

I upgrade with no problems...these are the steps I used, of course, ymmv ;^):

    1. deactivated all the plugins
    2. changed theme to default
    3. uploaded ALL 2.01 files
    4. opened upgrade.php file in browser
    5. reactivated plugins & set theme back

If you have a custom theme that incorporates any specific plugin code, its crucial that you set your theme to default prior to uploading the 2.01 files and runnng upgrade.php

I upgraded from the old version to version 2 to 2.01
    No problems ...
    Then imported from blogger
-- the old posts were playing up so I began deleting them.
Progressively, things went wrong with "no input file specified" on the viewed site files, eventually even on admin pages until I could do nothing,
    Have just reinstalled.
Now: take a look at http://www.australian-youth.info/news/index.php and tell me what's wrong ... Templates have vanished (there were no custom things, or plugins, though the imported blogger files were I might add, a bit old)

    Please someone help me.

I upgraded from 2.0 to 2.0.1 - so it works. No problem.

But: Where is my Entry RSS feed?

Both, the links to Entry RSS (../index.php/feed/) and Coment RSS (../index/comment/feed/), produce the SAME RSS/XML - Feed: The Comment RSS-Feed.

So, Why? Where I can find the Entry RSS?

Hi, I just upgraded my WP to the latest version (it's my first time to upgrade)...

However, what I did was (as the instructions told me so), I deleted the old files from the root directory and installed the new one on a subdirectory (because the root is too messy if I upload the WP files there)... It ALMOST works, but it seems that the links when I log in as admin seems to be connected, still to my root directory. It's sooo messed up to, like there's no CSS working, everything is displayed in Times New Roman vertically! And even if I change the URLs on the options, it tells me:

"Sorry, you need to enable sending referrers for this feature to work."

What gives? Was it a mistake, transferring the WP files to a subdirectory? Somehow it's not with my wp-config.php file because it still connects with the database...

    Help please!!! ='(

    Quick Q on an problem.

Just upgraded from 2.0 to 2.0.1. Everything seemed to be working except for the Options -> Permalink page. It's showing as a blank page.

Any reason for this? Any suggestion as to what the problem might be?

    Thanks.

I upgraded and had a problem with the previous - next links down at the bottom of the main page. I made a seperate thread.

    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/59458

    Here is the error.

WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1]
    SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT ID) FROM

I found a solution by adding two lines to the posts_nav_link () funtion in one of the include files. I have the complete code in the thread above.

Are there usually this many problems for new versions of WP? I only started with 1.5 and the upgrade to 2.0 was pretty painless.

I am *this* close to just dropping my WP blog because it won't let me see my Gallery 2 gallery. I don't understand why not. I am specifying the /gallery/ directory in the htaccess file just like my /stats/ directory, and I can get to the stats but not my gallery. I created an empty directory, and WP lets me see that, so why not my gallery?

    *frustrated* Please help.

    All went smooth for me.

Did the backup, disabled all plugins, etc.... Installed it and the only plug in (that I have) that didn't work was the Adhesive... :)

ozeflyer, I'm having the same problem. Anybody know how to fix this? (The entries feed and the comments feed both generate a feed for comments.)

As a general point of note: disabling plugins prior to an upgrade will in many cases (my own blogs being the cases in point AMOF) in effect disable the blog by throwing errors prior to the complete load of the blog. This is due to the residence in the sidebar (generally) of calls to those plugins.

Not to worry, and don't panic. Go ahead, disable them. Do the upgrade. If you don't see a "real" blog, again, don't panic. Just access the admin section of your blog (by directly inputting /wp-admin/ at the end of the blog address in the browser addy bar), and once you arrive at the dashboard, proceed to the plugin page, and reactivate everything which you are sure will work with the version to which you are upgrading.

If you must leave unactivated some plugins which will still put your blog in "fail to load" mode, then open your sidebar or index file in an editor and comment out (or wrap in the <?php if (function_exists('function name')) : ?><?php endif; ?> code) the "offenders", upload the modified file(s), and at that point you should be able to see a "real" blog.

And for anyone experiencing a blank screen after following the upgrade procedure:

Sounds like the "failed to return blog to default theme before processing upgrade" problem.

Try accessing /wp-admin/ directly through your browser, then go to Presentations, select a theme, make sure you see it change to Active Theme, then click View Site.

I hope I did this right. After upgrade I gave up and did a clean install of 2.1 now I need to restore my database backup but keep getting this error:
    SELECT label, id
    FROM phpmyadmin.PMA_bookmark
    WHERE dbase = 'wordpress'
    AND (

    user = 'kmilyun'
    OR user = ''
    )
    ORDER BY label
    MySQL said:

    #1146 - Table 'phpmyadmin.PMA_bookmark' doesn't exist

I do not know what this means or how to fix it anybody help an idiot thru this???

Did as I normally do while upgrading and things went smoothly as far as I know. Just gotta get the right rewrites in the .htaccess file again for the print plugin...and should be all set to go. =)

    1) Backed Up The DB, (Sigh, just not the stupid .htaccess file by accident though..but GamerZ helped with that part before anyways for the print plugin.)

    2) Disabled all plugins..

    3) Deleted all the files except for certain ones added and or specially modified, then reuploaded the good 2.0.1 files.

    4) Ran the wp-admin/upgrade.php file. =)

I'm happy now! Just gotta fix my A08 theme, clean it up and add it to the main blog yet. =)

I have a couple of relatively minor problems following the upgrade.

Firstly, my text is no longer being converted into HTML entities (eg. -- isn't becoming —; " " isn't becoming “ , etc).

Also, comment author URLs are messing up a bit. I think it's happening for people who don't enter the 'http://' at the beginning, resulting in broken links. I am sure this never happened before. The strange thing is, the URLs appear fine on the Favatar links.

mariocdl, I am having the exact same problems. This is why I hate upgrading... sigh.
