• I had this yesterday, and couldn’t see the dashboard, I tried lots of things like renaming/removing/deleting plugin and themes, checking the code on various things, nothing seemed to look wrong and nothing worked, in the end I backed up these problem files to my pc (only copy I had), deleted everything off the server and started again by downloading wordpress and uploading to my host and editing the config file. I managed to log back into the dashboad I was back on the default theme, so I used ftp to move just the old backup version of the theme I am using and media across.

Everything seems to be ok, but before it broke and I got’white screen of death’ the pre warning signals were between edits when I would make a change and click publish when the page refreshes to say ‘changes are made’ it came back white, i then clicked the back button in my browser and then refresh it brings the correct page into view? I still have this problem.

Also when I move from IE and try to log on via firefox I can see the website but cannot see the dashboard there?

  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

I have access to the dashboard, I have changed to the twenty ten theme and sure enough I don’t get the problem (next page after updating or publishing a change is just a white screen) I don’t get it. Gone back to black urban and it’s broken again.

I have edited the black urban code a little to get rid of comments boxes etc. Which I found difficult and wouldn’t want to do again. Is there any way of knowing what part of the black urban theme that is making the white screen on acknowledgement?

    Thanks

Try re-uploading a fresh copy of the black urban theme.

I am guessing a new copy will work, but I will have to edit all the code again to get rid of the bits I don’t want. I suppose I can go back to the old backed up copy again if I have to but of course it knackered.

ok so the new version hasn’t got the problem will have to slowly work my way through the changes again.

Maybe I will try and look in the support pages about how to remove certain things from the code because I am just guessing really which is why I keep getting problems I think.

    Thanks
