   I really need some expert help here. I have a database from 1.5 that I need to import into 2.0. To complicate matters more, the domains are different.

   1. Does there need to be a db upgrade from 1.5 to 2.0 or can I add data from the corresponding 1.5 table to the one in 2.0?
   2. If I do a search and replace for references to the old domain to the new one in the db, is that all that is needed for a domain change?

   I've searched the forums but can't find definitive answers.

   The databases are materially different. You can't simply "move" the 1.5 one into the 2.0 one.

   I would suggest you start here: http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/index.html. At the very top of the page is upgrading to 2.0 info. You will also find information in the index listings for your domain question.

   Thanks vkaryl. My problem is even more complicated -All I have is the db backup, and no current installation. If I understand you and the info on tamba2, then I'll need to install 1.5, import the old (url corrected) database, then upgrade the whole site to 2.0. If this is correct, does it matter which version of 1.5 I use? I'm not certain how to determine which exact version the db came from.

   Not as far as I'm aware. The database was IIRC identical among the various 1.5x versions.
