Activating RSS? (6 posts)

    Hi,

Just started using Wordpress, and haven't been able to figure out how to use the RSS. On the theme I'm using, there are two Subscribe entries: Entries RSS and Comments RSS. But, I just get an error when I click on them, so evidently I need to do something.

I read the RSS info on the Wordpress site, but it still isn't making any sense. I'm wondering how I get those two entries to work when someone clicks on them, in other words, what do I need to do within the Admin panel. And, then, what would the URL be to put into an RSS reader to access the feed?

    Thanks for any assistance.

    Kathleen

First of all it would help if a link to your blog was provided instead of a commercial site. Unless that's your intentions to start with, in which case it's not a very nice practice.

Secondly there is nothing to "activate" in regards to the RSS links. Copy the URL and place it in your RSS reader. They aren't designed to be "clicked on."

Again, without the blog link there is no way to see if the RSS urls are correct.

I'm getting some strange problems with my rss feeds, too. When I click the rss button in safari, I get an NSURLErrorDomain error. The link that causes this error is feed://www.dbt-u.com/feed/atom/

When I use firefox and click the RSS text link at the footer of my page I get the raw feed. The site is http://www.dbt-u.com if someone wants to have a look at it. Thanks.

    Marc,

Now, you'll know just how new I am at this. :-) I didn't think about the forum user name linking to anything. And, when the Profile asked for my website, I just put it in!

In any event, I've fixed that now. So, if you'll forgive me and check, I'd be humbly grateful.

The thing is that when I click on other people's Entries RSS, it goes to a raw feed. Mine goes to an error page....

I don't know exactly what you want, but you may want to change your RSS feed to feedburner. I wrote an article on it here: http://www.lukelabern.com/2006/01/27/how-to-change-your-wordpress-k2-rss-feed-to-feedburner/
