I’m using Suffusion theme and want to change the first photo in a post. But when I change it, the tile on the home page does not change the image as it should.
The problem is in the “How to make probiotic Yogurt” post on http://www.diypics.com
Anyone know how I go about changing this? I already tried clearing my cache, so that’s not it.
    THnks

I believe you are confusing Thumbnail and Featured Imgage. Placing a photo in the Featured image section and having the theme grab that image and use it on posts or pages is different from the thumbnail. Grab the URL of the picture, and when in the management of the post you’ll see a section headed “Additional Options for Suffusion”, and directly below that is a field “Thumbnail” in which to insert that URL for the “Thumbnail”. That thumbnail will now show up in the tile.

Note: If you are going to use Suffusions “Featured” section, then place that url in the “Featured Image” field just below the Thumbnail field.

So what is the Featured Image on the side of the post. Essentially that’s a WordPress function and Suffusion can grab from it in order to place that first photo, though I would recommend you place it yourself.

I tried both those option. I have both “thumbnail” and “Featured” clicked with the url for the image I want, but it’s not showing up in either the tile thumbnail. I am using the url for the uploaded image. What is the url for the thumb of that image?
    Thanks

my images are in png format. Do they have to be in jpg or something?

There is only one URL for an image, just be sure you have pasted the correct one. In the gallery you’ll notice that it indicates different sizes for thumbnail and such. That size is predetermined by the settings you use in the Media section of the WP settings and the Suffusion option if you’ve designated one. And PNG or JPG work the same.

Sayontan will of course know what the issue is, but as I can see, all of your posts have an image in the tile, so I assume one or more is not the image you want. Do some reverse engineering and first figure out where that incorrect image is and how it’s showing up in the tile. That should indicate where the error is.

I would delete the image from the sidebar in the post area since Suffusion offers that as an option from which to grab the image and you might have that set as the primary source.

This is the URL I have in the thumbnail option:
    http://www.diypics.com/upquark/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/yogurt-probiotic-1-160×160.png
    But it ain’t showing.
    ???

    (@bobschecter)

As I said, try some reverse engineering since this is what is currently showing as your thumbnail:

    http://www.diypics.com/upquark/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/probiotic-yogurt-160×160.jpg

It used to be the lead image, but I placed it at the end of the post and put in a new lead image. Thought it would automatically switch. I’ll try to delete the offending image and reload it…

    Thread Starter smartyd

    (@smartyd)

Well, I deleted the offending image and have the image I want plugged into the thumbnail option, but now a new image gets chosen for the tile thumbnail (the last image in my post).
    WHAT is going on???
    Please help!

    Deep Breath!!!

If the correct URL is inserted into the Thumbnail or Featured field, then it should override, but try this ….

Go to suffusion – Other Graphical Elements – Layout Excerpt/List… – and scroll down to where the “Thumbnail Settings” section is and adjust the order in which the theme chooses the thumbnail.

I have “first image in post” selected. So many overrides, and nothing is working.

    Bob

    (@bobschecter)

By the way, while you are in the Other Graphical Elements, go to the Featured Content and scroll down to “How To Show” and adjust the order in which the theme chooses the featured image.

I know … way too many options. All of which can and will screw things up on a regular basis πŸ™‚

    Bob

    (@bobschecter)

You adjust them by simply grabbing and moving the options up or down in the list provided.

    (@smartyd)

I changed it to “image specified in thumbnail…” and STILL no change.

    (@bobschecter)

I’m confused. Indeed you have the same photo for your thumbnail and featured image. Is that not what you want? If not, you have not grabbed and inserted the correct URL

    Thread Starter smartyd

    (@smartyd)

It’s the URL I specified. The image I want is the lead image in the full post. That’s the url specified in the thumbnail option. The home page simply will not display it. At least not in the tile.
