• Can’t seems to find a solution to this either…
Are there a way to make the pictures searchable? My site is going to have lot of pic from lots of photographers. Like If it was 10 photographers and they all have e pictures of cats, dogs and sunsets. All 10 have there own gallery, but as a costumer I’m interesting in pic of cats. So I want to use the search field to find pic of cats.
Is that possible? With the use of tags? And the BIG question, how?
If not, any suggestions on how to manage this?

    Thanks!

  • Aint that what tags are for, darling? Have a list of related tags next to your images. It will save your user the typing. I did it this way anyways 😉 http://mtl-streetshots.com/

The WP search is another story. For some reason I haven’t figured out yet, even with special Search plugins (such as Search Everything), my attachments don’t get searched. Only regular posts normally get searched.

    Hope this helps.

Yes, that what it is for, but I couldn’t make it work. I wanted the search result just for image, not any post or pages. And also all the pictures is for sale too so I have too integrate it with a buy function. I think I have the solution for this. I have found a perfect plugin, WordPress eStore And if I want I can integrate this with the plugin NextGen + a image search plugin for it (and this one can search for tags). But eStore itself has a lot of nice way to show the products/images. The only bad thing is that it doesn’t have the function to search for tags. But the descriptions field can be used to put in these words. I haven’t decided jet witch way to go with jet, still tweaking the CSS for nieces result. But thanks for the tip!

This eStore plugin seems like a goos solution for your needs. I found the Relevanssi plugin which is great — it makes your attachments searchable. Very efficient. You can easily exclude specific pages and post numbers from the results (if there aren’t too many).

    Good luck to you!
