• Hi, eventually when I visit my blog, the categories and the tags cloud seem ok, with its counters of posts, and when I click in one of them no post is assigned. Then, I log on the admin panel and go to posts, and all categories and tags are lost for all posts, they disappeared. It has happened 2 or 3 times now and i need to go, post by post, reassigning all the categories and tags. What can I do? I don’t have a clue what’s happening. Thanks

  • When checking your posts, click on the screen options in the upper right corner. Make sure cats and tags are checked.

Yes, they are checked, the problem is that in the admin panel, all posts appear without any categories and without any tags assigned, and before they had all of them, i need to edit each post, checking again the categories and tags. Thanks

yes same thing happen to me, suddenly every tag and category is gone >_<

no one seems to solve this problem. So I really think we had to put it all back again manually.

Is this issue related to a plugin? Have you tried disabling ALL of your plugins, reverting back to your standard “twenty-eleven” theme, and refreshing your browser?

Plenty of people are here who are willing to help; however YOU need to take a few steps to help us isolate the cause of the issue.

Try my suggestions above and if you are still having trouble, post back and I will be happy to help.

thanks josh, I know that many people are willing to help. thanks to people like you, and to wordpress for that. It’s just that I’m getting frustrated already.

I’ve seen four topics about this issue, followed every advice, and still nothing seemed to work. And, those four topics are not resolved.

    This is quite confusing.
First, there are no categories found in the dashboard->posts->categories.
then, there are categories in dashboard->posts->categories->most used tab

but when I tried editing and adding a post, checking one of the categories in the “most used” tab, it will be added in “uncategorized” after updating or publishing.

Another funny thing is, this both happened on two of the wordpress sites I am currently maintaining. Haha.

Trust me, I know the feeling 😉

So, did you try my suggestions above? I know it’s time consuming, but it must be done to isolate the cause.

Hahaha. Just checked the 3rd wordpress website, no categories also! *whatisgoingon. haha

Tried it on website 1, nothing happened, 🙁

    trying on website 2…

Are these all installed on the same server?

    just the 2 of 3.

3rd website doesn’t show any categories at all. like it was manually erased. 🙁

2 websites(same server) still shows the categories in some parts.

Do you know how to access your database? Are the category names you created still being stored in the database?

    Yes.

I tried adding new categories(not in the database), they’re still being stored in the database.

Okay, what’s one of the websites where you are having this issue?
