add link to external url in custom fields

    Hi

    I have spent some time looking on the forums and on google for a solution to this issue but have not yet found anything that works.

    I am not even too sure if it’s possible but I would like to be able to add a link to an external site using the custom fields value.

    I would basically like to be able to enter a url and a value for a custom field and for that to somehow appear in my post as a link and the ‘value’ would be the actual link text.

    For example: Value = bbc Url= http://www.bbc.co.uk

    On the post itself it would appear as a custom field usually does but it would also be a link.

    I’ve probably explained this really badly but it’s been a long day…

    PS. This link and value would vary for each post

    You can create a metabox and display it in your post, why not?

    I recommend you this script also, quite easy to use and can be get advanced data.

    Set two text fields, one for link itself and one for the text link, then echo the data in you post.
