Trouble with external links

    I have a problem with external links on my blog. When people are clicking on a link a new window will open (2 times). I have checked the html target=”_blank” (new window will open 2 times). This happens with all html i put on my single,index,page files and widgets.

    When i change target=”_blank” to >>>> target=”_new” the new window will open once …

    – Does anyone know how i can fix this problem ?
    – Ive test it with IE 7,8,9 – Firefox 4.0.1 – Opera
    – Can this be a conflict with plugins?
    – Is there a way to change/edit (core file(s) so all used links will have target=”_new” instead of _blank ?

    1, Opening external links in a new window will not keep people on your site.

    2. It’s really bad practice. It seriously annoys most people and makes your site impossible to use for some people.

    3. target=_blank should work.

    4. Never edit core files.

    1, thats not any of my problem and or question!
    2, thats not any of my problem and or question!
    3, it does not work on my blog for some reason (after 3 years) thats why i have posted this topic!
    4, I want to know which file is used for the target=”_blank” for external links so i can change it into target=”_new” cause thats is at this time the only way external links work the way i want them to work on my blog.

    Then the problem is within your site. Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Thnx for the tips, will check first if this is a plugin, theme problem and reset plugins folder

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme, External links now only open 1 time. So its a problem with my theme.

    Do you have a clue witch file can cause this problem ? going to check all theme files, but if you have some more usefull tips thnx!
