Plugins @ wordpress.COM versus Plugins @ wordpress.ORG

    Greetings everyone. Yesterday I setup my first standalone blog site at dreamhost.com. I haven’t uploaded any html code to it yet. I signed up with wordpress.COM and later learned plugins (in this case a contact me plugin) will not work with wordpress.COM, and I’ll need to use wordpress.ORG to use plugins. I’ve tried to download and install the software from wordpress.ORG to no avail. Can anyone help since I’m lost. Thanks!

    I’m not a huge expert what so ever but have gone through the same process weeks ago…
    Basically what you need to do after installing the latest version of WordPress is:
    1. go to your WP.com Dashboard
    2. Under the ‘tools’ menu choose ‘Export’
    3. save the file
    4. log in to your WP.org dashboard and under ‘tools’ this time choose ‘Import’

    that’s it.
