  • How is your menu bar created? If you are using the built-in WP menu system, it is fairly simple.

    You can make a main menu item that is non-clickable by creating a Custom Links entry with a single hash mark (#) as the URL and the label of your choice.

    Then you can add Pages or Categories to the menu and make them sub-items of the main item by dragging them to a position beneath the main item and indented to the right under it.

    If this is not your situation, please explain more about how your menu is created.

    Using the built-in menu system is the easiest way to go about it.

    The best way to learn how to style theme is to look at an existing theme. Have a look at the Twenty Ten theme, the css for their drop downs is a great way to learn.
