    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help me find the following:

My site is currently hosted through godaddy.com which is posing some issues for me. First, it’s slow and seems to have frequent latency issues and, 2nd, I don’t like the way I’m forced to backup the site. Can anyone recommend a good host that isn’t expensive and has a way to backup that site in a way that resembles historical restore points like that of a PC?

    1. Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – using a caching plugin?

    2. I don’t know of any host that would offer a versioned backup system of the type you suggest but feel free to search the forums for topics on “hosting”. There are plenty of them in the forum’s database – which is why we’d rather not have any more.

    Hi esmi,

I’m using W3 Total Cache, which has sped the site up quite a bit. However, I still experience latency problems around noon everyday. I’m suspecting that it’s a godaddy issue, but I could be wrong. I’ll try the troubleshooting steps you recommend to see if I can isolate it.

Do you have any tips or advice on how to backup a wordpress site? Currently I use godaddy’s backup which overwrites the last backup.
