wordpress redirects home page to last post

if I go to my site homepage… everything is fine until I add a new post. Then, wordpress creates a redirect in it’s database that makes the home page of the blog always go to that single item.

I should note that I don’t use site.com/blog as my url, I use site.com/otherName/

so, permalinks should be http://www.site.com/otherName/2011/04/03/post-name

And that works… I just can’t figure out how to get wordpress to STOP redirecting my main blog location to the last post all the time.

Deleting the redirect in the DB works… until you start adding posts again.
