I have one wordpress blog running 3.0 and one running 3.1

On the 3.1 blog I used the <embed> </embed> method and it worked once. Now when I tried to do it again, it takes my link:

    <embed>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNm0XegIyVM</embed&gt;

and changes it to this on its own:

    <embed></embed>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNm0XegIyVM

and the text just prints in the post.

In my wordpress 3.0, entering the youtube link in the visual editor does not embed the video for me, still just text, and it worked once entering the youtube embed code link into the html version, and now nothing is working on that one.

Could somebody please tell me what the hell is going on? This is crazy frustrating!

    2 things I would check:

    1. Make sure when you paste the embed code into your post, that you are on the HTML view and not the ‘visual’.

    failing that,

    2. Use the ‘old embed code’ in Youtube.

You’ll see an option as soon as you click ’embed’. Then, your code should look like this:

    <object width="425" height="349"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/bgcvxAdWCn4?fs=1&hl=en_GB&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/bgcvxAdWCn4?fs=1&hl=en_GB&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="349"></embed></object>

Again, make sure you’re on the html viewer in the ‘Add new post’ screen.

    Hope this helps.

Yep, I checked all of that, and used youtubes embed code in the html viewer, still no dice. The weird thing is it worked ONCE yesterday on my 3.0 blog, and now doesn’t work today!??@!!

I’m starting to wonder if I made the right choice with wordpress

I got one to work again, funny, I did the same method twice a half hour ago. Looking on google and these forums there sure are a lot of people having consistency issues with youtube videos. I’m really suprised and I wonder wth it is exactly.

Thanks for your help so far, we’ll see how far down the road this gets me….

WordPress is a stable and excellent CMS platform and is certainly a lot quicker and functional than most other frameworks.

I think since the latest release, there a couple of forum threads saying the same thing, so i don’t think that it’s just you.

Have you tried ‘Add Media’ from the post page and adding in the Youtube url that way?

    Good luck.
