• I got a question how do you know when you get pingbacks as comment they are spam or not spam?

I always approve them and sometimes spam them. Talking about pinkbacks here,

comments like:

healthcare, get it now, pay to get full version

I always delete as spam but pingbacks are harder to notice when being spam and when not.

How do you know, if needed I can show some examples of pingbacks that might be spam but I did approve them.

• I’m interested in this too because I can’t tell. Since there are no responses to this, is there perhaps another forum where we can find the answer? I’ve tried to google it but ended up her,e and the info here has been very reliable. Hope someone is able to help.

Experience.

If the use [url=... tags, I know they’re spam. Otherwise I’ll go look at the site and if it looks spammish, then I know.

Generally Akismet does a good job stopping them for me.

Just starting to get those pings and learning about this myself. My notes so far from suggestions gleaned surfing old discussions here.

* If uncertain, allow the pings. You can delete them later.
* I am not sure if trackbacks may be a bit obsolete? I guess I’ll find out if I get them.
* It seems to me that if a webmaster is willing to link to your site, it may be a good thing even if it is a bit spammy. “Exchanging reciprocal links” are not exactly meaningful, but a respected tradition. So long as you check out the other site and make sure it’s not trash.
* It also may depend on how many “meaningful” comments you are getting. If you get a lot, then you might be more picky about the pingies.
