[Plugin: BuddyPress Group Email Subscription] Emails still going out after user leaves group/is bann

    I’m not positive if this is a bug with this plugin or with BP, but after someone leaves a group, they continue to receive emails from the group if someone posts after them. This happens even for users who are set to “No email”.

    Also, this plugin seems to integrate with the BP Group Management plugin in that the email settings options show up in there, but it doesn’t work right. If you try to change a user’s email setting in the group management panel, it doesn’t seem to actually apply that setting. Also, if you ban someone though the group management plugin, they still continue to receive emails. This bug was reported to the author of the group management plugin last year and but it doesn’t look like it was ever addressed.

    yes, this is not a bug, but rather a mal-interaction between two plugins. When you use group management, the group email subscription plugin doesn’t know that certain things happened. my suggestion: stop using the group management plugin until this lack of support is corrected by the industrious boone.

    If you leave or are banned from a group, you still receive emails if Main Notifications (Settings>Notifications) are set to “Yes”. Admins of the group or the site have no way of changing these per member.

    If the Main Notifications are off and rely on the Email Notification plugin settings, everything works.

    The only way I’ve gotten this to work is to install the Buddypress Notifications Manager – BpNM, set all the default in Group Forum to “No”, then remove the function that adds Group Forum and options from the plugin.

    It would be great if the plugin was written NOT giving the options and using the Email Notifier on each group. Any hope?

    if what you say is correct, this is a bug. if a user leaves a group themselves, they should not get any more email. however @emiline220 was removing people via another method so my plugin did not know they left and emails still got sent. I will look into banning. we’re not using this on our site, so this may take a long time for me to look at.

    Whether banned from the frontend or with GM plugin. Removing the GM plugin had no affect on the email notification when a person left on their own free will or were banned.
