    Hi All,

I am looking to build a store that will have almost 6,000 products and trying to figure out what will work best Wp or Joomla. Any feed back will be greatly appreciated. I currently use wp now and think its great, but some people have told me that wp ecommerce is not as secure as Joomla. Also have been told that Joomla is powerful, but with a steeper learning curve. What is the better of the two?

    Thanks, Josh

  • Define “better”. You are spot on when you say Joomla has a steeper learning curve. It does give you more customization but depending on how much functionality you really need. Either one would scale to 6000 just fine.

Thanks for the feed back! What I meant my better was which one would provide a secure store, that could handle that me many products, and be able to grow the site. What I am trying to achieve with the finished site is a magazine, store, and a community where visitors can share stories and photos of their experiences. So it seems like wordpress is capable of handling all this?

Sure. WordPress, Joomla and Drupal can all do that.

Great! Thank you both for the help!

Joomla and Drupal generally provides more customization but are more complex. That said, many users don’t require such heavy lifting and WP would do just fine.
