I upgraded to 1.2 Changed my settings to “free basic account” and am not getting thumbnails.

Also I added a new website and it’s not showing up in the thumbnail history at the STW site. There seems to be a communication problem. I refreshed one of the sites as a test with no luck.

    Here’s my webpage:

Thanks for your help in advance!

  • same here. 1.2 breaks all thumbnails and disables the refresh link in the admin screen.

I think I know the problem… ShrinkTheWeb.com has changed their model for non-paying customers to not allow for local caching of thumbnails they generate.

Something to do with that. I’m not a techy-

I solved the problem by going into the advanced settings, and put in “custom thumb URL” for all 17 of the sites in my portfolio, using an image from each site. It was kind of a bitch, but I don’t like waiting around. I actually think it looks better anyway.

It’s not so much a problem solver as a problem work around.

Good luck- and hopefully the team at WP Portfolio will fix the problem.

ShrinkTheWeb.com have indeed changed their model, so the refresh is no longer needed for the Basic Account, because it uses Javascript to load the image now, rather than being cached.

Additionally, ShrinkTheWeb.com have sent several messages to their users saying that you now need to lock your account to your website (details are on the WP Portfolio FAQ) for security reasons.

So WP Portfolio is not broken. STW have just changed the way their free accounts work.

I have just updated the FAQ to clarify the changes in V1.20. The changes should appear sometime in the next 24 hours.

Please read these STW resources for more detail (these would have been emailed to you by STW):
    http://www.shrinktheweb.com/content/how-do-i-lock-my-account.html
    http://www.shrinktheweb.com/content/what-stw-preview-verification.html

Once you’ve got your account working again, please consider leaving a positive rating, and marking the plugin as working.

Bear in mind that out of over 22,000 downloads, only 25 people have ever thanked me for WP Portfolio. Most people just complain. Hardly motivation for us plugin developers to release plugins for free.

First of all my apologies if I in any way came off as ungrateful to any wordpress plugin developers. I think it’s the greatest thing going, and the spirit of this has lead me to develop a site that’s a free information portal and free website database for artists.

I’ll fix the problem and change my vote to works and write a good review.

    Thanks for your help.

    All best,
