Yes, we noticed the same as well. Took us a while and disabling of all plugins to find out though š
It is not really helping I guess since this is also added to the canonical URL and therefore changes the permalinks of all posts.
Each blog on our multi-site install has a different number added after the “?” and this stays the same on all posts of that blog.
What is it used for and how can it be disabled?
Hi bigcityinformer,
This morning I received an email from the developer as I submitted this as a bug report, and he said “This is fixed in another release I will push tomorrow.”.
So we will get our fix soon enough.
Cool š Thanks for the Info
Let’s hope the version number is different as well so we will know once it got updated š
Also noticed a very loooong connect time if this ?12345 is added to the URL, not sure if it’s related though.
I think that the latest development version won’t have a number like 0.9.13 etc, he only puts versions on the stable releases for downloads.
However if you download the dev version, and unzip it you can see the dates of the file creation, which gives you a hint of how long ago they were modified.
And yes, I did noticed also the added delay to connect with the query string at the end.
Just switched back to the normal version, this will do for now I guess š
Also Google Ads did not show sometimes with the dev version for some reason.
Sorry for being so slow on this but how do you get the developer version? I am having the problem listed here (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-w3-total-cache-cloudfilescdn-new-images-throwing-object-already-exists-error) and the suggested solution was to use the development version.
I am not trying to crash this post accept that you two seem to be in the know on such things and the link I referenced is fairly old and likely no longer active.
Thanks.
figured it out. Go here and look for the link near the bottom…
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/w3-total-cache/download/
@lifeatthecircus you can find the downloads for the other versions on the main page for the plugin, under the star rating where it says FYI or here is the link.
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/w3-total-cache/download/
All the way at the bottom.
I think we were both typing at the same time š
Thanks anyway. I hope to give it a try tonight (or should I wait till tomorrow given the problem you two were discussing?)
I say wait till tomorrow, but keep in mind that development versions, either fix or break something, or they just simply work.
I understand. Life is all about risk :-).
Thanks again for your help. Will wait until tomorrow.
Ok. Wish me luck. I’m gonna switch to the developer version now.
I forgot to write here I did it this morning, just a minor glitch I encountered but it’s resolved now. Let us know how it goes.
Well I seem to have found a pretty serious glitch. My troubleshooting can’t seem to solve it so I am gonna try and figure out how to do a bug report. I am using minify as I did before and it consolidates my javascript and css like it is supposed to. However, it does not remove others so now users end up downloading both the minimized one and the originals. (now theirs 5 css instead of the original 4).
I messed with it for a while and am pretty sure it’s not a setting on my end. Pretty sure it is an issue with the developers version.
